The Day After Yesterday
Elxx | November 17, 2008Well, the release of the Sandbox 1.0 beta went about as smoothly as an episode of Maury. It took three uploads of the files until everything was in a somewhat-working state for people. Luckily, most of the problems were fixed within hours of the original release.
Right now I’m focusing on getting all the server-side scripts running nicely - there are still a few glitches where everyone suddenly loses the ability to spawn stuff, and that’s no fun. Those should be fixed by the end of the day. (Cue the “HAHA YEAH RIGHT MORE LIKE 55 YEARS!”) After that, I’ll start pushing out updates to the client-side stuff to fix the command rose and things like that.
Thanks for playing and bearing with me during the problems and instability - as a lowly modder, I don’t have the resources to hire a fancy pants QA team, so you guys get to be the guinea pigs. Hopefully you’re enjoying the fleeting moments in the server where everything works right. Once we get these basic issues fixed, I know Sandbox 1.0 is going to be epic and I’ll be able to provide you with new mod content a helluva lot more often than once a year. Cheers.
Yea i hope the spawn issue gets fixed, at arround midnight your time everyone could only spawn one thing then it died. We all ended up fighting over the last helicopter in the map

The beta is fun, except for the occasional smack and people complaining that nothing is working xD. Hope to get on before and maybe after school.

Hey Elxx, thanks a bunch. The new mod works wonderfully!(Other than the bugs I mean, which I know might take a few days to fix.) Yeah I like flying around too, it’s loads of fun. All the new objects ect, think you did a great job with mod and the polished touch.

Today, When the spawning stopped working, Somehow a guy did @ju 999999 or something and it effected everyone, Also alot of smacks come when you leave lol, Today i might go buy my power supply.
Still, I think the mod is awesome.
At the time no smacktards were yet littering the servers with objects to let them crash, I had a great time.
Guess when the Local server function is working that I can really start building something.

How many guinea pig fatalaties have occured? Hundreds of millions billions? I would estimate the high gazalions. Wait I think that was was meese… yeah only one guinea pig has gotten carpal tunnel.

Finally I got unbanned from the server yesterday thanks to one of the admins in vent, and got to try it out. I’m one of the oldie members of sandbox, and it’s always great to come back to a great update. Good job Elxx / Missleboy, and I’m looking forward to the actual release / further releases in Sandbox

In other news, I just played 3 full rounds on the beta server with 20 other people and object spawning worked fine for everyone the whole time. Looks like that bug is fixed.

You should also fix it so that page 2 of the objects stays when you un-tab so it won’t go back to page 1 when you push tab again

Local isn’t broken. Elxx just hasnt sent out the files that local needs in order to work
The spawning glitch isn’t fixed, I got on after he posted that it was fixed, and 30min later: BOOM!!! No spawn for you! Although it is mostly fixed.

yah elxx after you left spawning broke down and I had to spam my giant aircraft carrier till the server reset… didn’t break after as far as I know..
btw can ya work on some of the vehis? the russian amphibious tank floats too high…
I really like how you can spawn as any kit from any army(or marines). The mod workedperfectly forf me, till it crashed, and i still haven’t figured out the HUD
Hey Elxx is there going to be an installer sometime? For some reason .rar files won’t unpack for me with WinRar (Ironic :P) However I do enjoy the 2MB/s dl rates I get on your server
hmm Elxx when i launch sandbox it gives me an update error OR it just does the usual update thing then crashes….

Elk and Meese are different animals but Elxx managed to make hybrids
people listen, there is no update. When elxx adds one the thing will download it. But now there is none so don’t expect it to download nothing
