So, it looks like DICE released some information about my “secret project” today. Wake Island 2142, oh yes. The weeks we have spent working on the map have been extremely stressful, but it’s great to see the first glimpses coming to the public light. Many of you probably aren’t big BF2142 fans, but this is the first time that DICE has decided to add user-made maps into an official game patch. And I definitely want to extend a huge THANK YOU! to all the great people at DICE who have helped us out with map development, answering all our questions and providing lots of feedback. I bet that’s something you never expected to hear from me.

A couple of days ago, I finished a pretty big project that was eating up pretty much all of my development time for the better part of a month. Sadly, I’m not allowed to tell you anything about it, but you’ll get to see it very soon.

My first PS3 game purchase was Burnout Paradise. I’ve been a huge fan of the series since Burnout 2 on PS2. Paradise has a somewhat different feel from all the other Burnout games because of the free-roaming world, but the insane speed and crashes are all still there. It’s a very fun game. In addition, I bought Super Stardust HD - it’s a sort of shooter with very addicting gameplay and amazing graphics. And besides those, I also had to pick up fl0w. I loved the Flash game, and the PS3 version adds lots of depth and even prettier graphics. It’s very relaxing and nice to play whenever. And of course the DualShock 3 was one more essential - it’s much sturdier than the light and flimsy-feeling Sixaxis.

Now I’m basically broke. I’ve promised myself - after GTA4, I’m not buying anything else for the PS3 until at least September. By that time, I’ll be a poor college student anyways. Looking forward to lots of ramen noodles and homework.

So what have I been doing lately? Well, the usual boring stuff mostly…working on various projects, arguing with people on the Sir. forums, sleeping through school. I’m making slow progress on Sandbox 1.0. Well, maybe not slow, just slightly less rapid. I have incorporated about 40% of the old Sandbox 0.5 features into the shiny new recoded Sandbox 1.0. That might seem weak, but everything’s much more efficient and the chronic lag that plagues some servers after an hour of play should be all but completely eliminated. I promise that my next Sandbox related blog post will give you something to download and play with. But don’t be disappointed - it will probably not have all the features of 0.5 yet, but it’ll certainly look and feel quite different. You’ll be surprised

So what else have I been doing lately? Last Tuesday, I bought myself a PlayStation 3 in anticipation of GTA4. I’ve been a huge GTA fan ever since I mowed down my first Krishnas as a wee child, and this looks like another massive step forward in the series. There’s no way I can wait for the PC port.
